Over the past few weeks, I have realised that the last few months of the year is my favourite time of year. Although admittedly, you can rarely pull me off my sun lounger on a hot day, there is something cosy and intimate about the colder nights and the winter days. I love wrapping up warm and snuggly jumpers are my best friend!!
There is something about the colour of autumn that really just makes me smile. The bright red of the leaves as they cover the floor and the oranges and yellows that pop up in every shop front, remind me that the ending of summer is not all bad. Too often we try to hang onto the flip flops and tell ourselves that every piece of sunlight we see “may be the last for a while”. But I have begun to accept the uncontrollable change in weather and embraced it with both arms. Not only is a nice autumn blogging aesthetic one of my all time favourites (got the jumper to prove it!!), but I love capturing the colours on camera and seeing how they pop!
But most of all, my favourite time of year has to be these months because I am such a homebody. Although yes, October is WAY too early for Christmas decorations, it is never too early to flood the place with candles, warm blankets and hot tea! There is nothing better than a crisp winter walk being followed by the warmth of your home (or the pub, whichever is closer I guess!). A cosy evening in watching Gilmore Girls is my idea of perfect after a long day! Well, I say watching, I mean more like binging because Gilmore Girls is actually my favourite thing ever right now. We are so close to the end of the series, that I am actually questioning what my life will be like when we finish it. If someone tells me that Lorelai and Rory do not exist, I actually think I will stop talking to you. (I am not joking!!!)
But in all seriousness, I remember a few weeks back when I was drowning my sorrows that summer was over, thinking that things wouldn’t be good again until the sun shined on Brighton beach once more. But Autumn you have proved me wrong. Your bright coloured leaves and perfect coat weather have stolen a little piece of me!! There is one thing I didn’t get around to doing this year though; visit a pumpkin patch. I mean that is THE ONLY THING I have been seeing on social media lately… where did this trend come from and how do I become a part of it??? There is always next year I guess… it will be one for the bucket list. If anyone knows of any cool pumpkin patches around the London/East Sussex area, please drop me a note (:
So here is to making the best out of winter. Sparklers, Christmas trees, woolly scarfs… I think we will make it through enjoying each day rather than wishing these months away in order for it to be summer again. You can never even count on having warm months here in England so let’s just make the best of what we have hey! It is weird to think my favourite time of year has changed… but at least with Autumn, we know what we are getting!!
